Tips To Ensure Care On Contact Lens Case

A contact lens case is very valuable to your lenses.  Most eye-care professionals do recommend that one should replace contact lens cases every 3 months for optimum eye health.  These cases can be a source of bacteria growth.  It should be emptied, cleaned, rinsed with solutions recommended by the lens case manufacturer and allowed to air dry.  Contact lens cases are meant to store contact lenses after usage.  These cases protect the contacts from dirt and dust, and thus help to enhance their longevity.

Contact lens cases are two containers with screws on the lids, inter-connected by a plastic strip.  The lids are labeled “L” and “R”.  The left eye lens is to be kept in the “L” lid and the “R” lid is for the right lens.  This is useful to ensure that lenses for both eyes are kept separately.  This also helps ensure the user on which lens to be inserted in each eye.  This is very important as often the powers for the left and right eye varies. 

A lot of design is available for contact lens cases.  Some cases are just plain colors of black, white, blue or green.  Other cases features a ball and an action shot on the other side.  These cases are more popularly known as the sports contact lens case.  Canine contacts lens case has picture of dogs on the lids and the endangered species lens case has pictures of endangered animals and birds embossed.  Flip top lens case is another type of contact lens case. 

Whatever one decides to have as a contact lens case, those with screw-down lids are better as they help to prevent the solution from leaking.  These contact lens cases are small and can easily be carried along.  In case of an eye irritation, the lens can be removed kept securely.  The same as the lenses, the case also needs frequent cleaning.  The lens case must be washed with soap, at least once a week and can be sterilized by keeping it in boiling water to kill any bacteria.

A clean and disinfected contact lens case is indispensable to improve the life of the contacts contained in it.  Hygienic cleaning of the contact lens case helps to ensure that the eyes remain healthy and free from infection.  Doctors advice that these cases be replaced frequently to avoid accumulation of harmful bacteria and protein deposits.
